It has been confirmed that Sony won’t be making use of the newly announced Android Wear in its future devices. This was disclosed by Ravi Nookala, head of Sony Mobile US, to a news website. Instead, the company will be creating their own mobile OS. Nookala explained that they have decided to pursue this project since they have already invested their time and resources to it.
Sony was one of the first companies to tap the smartwatch market. Though many famous companies will be supporting Android Wear, it seems that Sony wishes to take another direction by investing in their own OS.
However, Nookala also clarified that the company will still be partnering with Google in some of its projects.
